Privacy Policy
Answer Prayers is a free world prayer wall. We keep as little information as we can. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
What you share
- Prayer requests you post: the text, the place you chose (a country or U.S. state), the time, and a first name only if you type one. You can post anonymously. Posted prayers are public: anyone using the app can read them.
- “I prayed” taps, “answered” updates and praise reports, shown as counts and notes on the prayer.
- Reports you send about a prayer that should not be on the wall.
Please do not include last names, addresses, phone numbers, emails or other private details about yourself or anyone else. The app blocks links, emails and phone numbers.
What we keep automatically
- A random device ID, created by the app and stored on your device, so you can only tap “I prayed” once per prayer and so you can mark your own prayers answered. Our database stores only a one-way fingerprint (hash) of it, and it is not linked to your name or identity.
- A secret owner key for each prayer you post, kept only on your device. Our database stores only a one-way fingerprint (hash) of it.
- A one-way, salted fingerprint of your IP address, used only to limit spam (how many posts per hour/day) and to count reports fairly. We never store your IP address itself. Rate-limit records are deleted automatically within days.
- Your settings (light or dark look) stay on your device.
Where it is stored
Prayers are stored in a database run by Supabase (our database and real-time provider). The app files are served by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages, at answerprayers.org), and the old address answerprayers.surge.sh by Surge (static hosting). When you tap Move on the old address, your saved data is carried to answerprayers.org inside the link itself (after the #), which is never sent to any server; the new site asks before importing it. These providers process data only to run the service. The app does not use cookies, advertising IDs, or third-party analytics. The “praying now” count uses a live connection that is not stored.
Verse suggestions and care notes
When you type or read a prayer, the app checks the words on your device to suggest a related Bible verse (public-domain translations) and, if the words sound like someone may be in danger, to show crisis-line links. This check happens only on your device: the text is not sent, stored, or logged for it.
Translate button
Posts can be translated with the Translate button. In browsers that offer built-in translation (such as recent Chrome), this happens on your device and the text is not sent anywhere. Otherwise the button opens the post in Google Translate in a new tab, which sends that text to Google under Google’s own privacy policy. Nothing is translated unless you tap the button.
Moderation
Posts pass an automatic filter. Anyone can report a prayer; after several reports it is hidden from the wall automatically, and we may remove anything that breaks our Terms.
Removing a prayer
To have a prayer you posted removed, contact us at TODO: contact email with the place, the approximate time and the words of the prayer. Prayers we remove at your request are deleted from the database.
Children
Answer Prayers is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
